Configure Outlook 2010 Gmail POP3 Access


1- In Outlook 2010, click the File tab on the Ribbon. In the “File” menu that appears, click Info to display the “Account Information” screen shown below.


2- Click Add Account to open the “Add New Account” page of the “Auto Account Setup” wizard.]



3-Select the Manually configure server settings or additional server types option, then click Next. There is no need to enter any other information on this screen as we will be entering it on the next one.

4- On the “Choose Service” screen that appears, select Internet E-mail, then click Next. This opens the “Internet E-mail Settings” screen.


5-In the “User Information” section of the screen, enter your Name and full Gmail E-mail Address.

6-In the “Server Information” section of the screen, select POP3 as the “Account Type.”

7-For “Incoming Mail Server,” enter pop.gmail.com, and for “Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP),” enter smtp.gmail.com.


8- In the “Logon Information” section, enter your Gmail User Name. Include the “@gmail.com.” So if your Gmail User Name is fred, you would enter fred@gmail.com in this field.
9- Enter your Gmail Password, and set the Remember Password option so you don’t have to manually enter your Gmail password every time Outlook wants to check for new mail.

10- Confirm that the Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) option is NOT selected.

11-Click the More Settings button to open the “Internet E-mail Settings” box, then click the Outgoing Server tab.



12-On the “Outgoing Server” tabbed page, set the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox and then set the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option.

13-Click the Advanced tab to open the “Advanced” tabbed page.



14-In the “Incoming Server (POP3)” section, set the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) check box, then enter 995 in the box.

15- In the Outgoing server (SMTP) box, enter 587, then select TLS in the Use the following type of encrypted connection box.

16-Click OK to save these changes and return to the “Internet E-mail Settings” screen.

17-Click the Test Account Settings button to confirm that your Gmail Outlook 2010 connection is set up properly. After a moment or two, you should see a box with the message, “Congratulations! All tests completed successfully.” This tells you that all is well and you were successful in your attempt to configure Outlook 2010 for Gmail access. Click Close to close this box and return to the “Internet E-mail Settings” screen.

18-Click Next, then Finish.

Outlook 2010 Issues with yahoo email


These are what I had done.... 

1) Remove and reinstall MS Office - Not working
2) Start a new Outlook email - Not working
3) Reboot laptop back to out of box and reinstall MS Office - Not working
4) Changed  
Incoming Mail Server (POP3) is set to inbound.att.net
Outgoing mail server (SMTP) to outbound.att.net
Incoming server (POP3) should be set to port 995
Outgoing server (SMTP) should be set to port 465

Before, it was
pop.att.yahoo.com
smtp.att.yahoo.com

5) Don't waste your time if you have similar issues.

Problem setting up Outlook 2010 with Office 365


The issue can be caused if one of the following factors is true:

1. The Always prompt for logon credentials is checked.

2. Office 365 Desktop Setup has been run, or the Microsoft Online Services Sign In Assistant is out of date.

3. The personal certificate needs to be refreshed.

Based on the situation, please try to troubleshoot the issue with the steps below:

1. Check Outlook settings

a. Open Outlook 2010. Click File>Account settings>Account Settings.

b. Click the E-mail tab, click the Exchange Online mailbox, click Change…

c. Click More Settings…. Click the Security tab, make sure the Always prompt for logon credentials box is unchecked.

When you logon in, please let the Remember my credential box is checked.

2. Run Office 365 Desktop Setup Apps

To do so, please log on Office 365, click Downloads under Resources on the right panel, and then click Set up under Set up and configure your Office desktop apps.

3. Delete the personal credentials

If you are running Windows 7, please remove the user’s stored credentials in Windows Credential Manager. To do this, follow these steps:

a. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Credential Manager.

b. Locate the set of credentials that is used to connect to Exchange. The credentials should be shown as MS.Outlook: username@domain.onmicrosoft.com or username@your vanity domain.com

c. Expand the set of credentials, and then select Remove from Vault.

If you are running Windows XP, please also remove the user’s stored credentials in Windows Credential Manager. To do this, follow these steps:

a. In the Stored User Names and Passwords dialog box, click the credential that you want, and then click Remove. The following message is displayed:The selected logon information will be deleted.

b. Click OK.

c. In the Stored User Names and Passwords dialog box, click Close.

If the issue still could not resolve, you can re-create an email profile for this in Outlook.

Outbox Email stuck in Outlook 2010
